British Curling is the national governing body for one of the UK’s most successful Winter Olympic and Paralympic programmes.

Responsible for delivering medal winning moments at Olympic, Paralympic, World and European Championships, we work closely with our partners at Scottish, English and Welsh Curling, UK Sport and sportscotland.

The organisation has recently undertaken a fundamental review of our approach and operations and there is a vibrant team in place (new thinking balanced with experience) focused on the upcoming Winter Olympic and Paralympics in Beijing in 2022 and the World and European Championships between then and now.

We have an exciting opportunity and are delighted to announce that in partnership with Scottish Curling we are recruiting for a two year coaching apprenticeship as part of the sportscotland funded ‘Coaching Futures Programme.’

Vacancy: Coaching Future Apprentice Coach
Contract: Two years fixed term
Location: National Curling Academy, Forthside Way, Stirling (with some international/domestic travel)
Salary: Circa £25,000
Responsible to: Olympic Head Coach

This is a new opportunity with British Curling and Scottish Curling and we are seeking up to two apprentice coaches to join our team at the National Curling Academy (NCA) in Stirling to work across all areas of the world class performance programme as part of sportscotland’s ‘Coaching Futures Initiative.’

This vacancy is open to any performance curlers who are in the process of retirement or who have retired in the past five years and are looking to utilise their knowledge and skills as they embark on a career in coaching.

The ‘Coaching Futures Programme’ is currently supporting a third intake of apprentice coaches with the aim of increasing the number of home grown world class coaches by providing a pathway for athletes to transition into coaching roles.

British Curling and partners Scottish Curling and sportscotland will work closely together to provide a well supported bespoke development programme for up to two apprentice coaches to them help build the foundations towards a long-term and successful coaching career in one of Scotland’s most successful winter sports.

The successful candidate/s will experience all levels of the performance pathway within both the Olympic and Paralympic world class performance programmes and will be expected to contribute to the performance culture in the NCA and commit fully to the required standards expected within a high performance environment.
